Electron microscopy

The surface of a petal of a cowslip flower, Primula veris. Conically-shaped cells (yellow) of the petal are seen; multi- cellular hairs (brown) called trichomes are also visible. The flowers and leaves of the cowslip have medicinal qualities, used as a salve to treat inflammation, and a tonic for coughs and common colds.
