02.Fungus: Microsporum fungus (microsporum gypseum)
Electron microscopy

This fungus causes ringworm on the scalp and body. The cylindrical spore-producing structures (macroconidia) are seen connected by hyphal filaments. Microsporum gypseum is found in the soil. Gardener's hands can become infected, as well as the underarms. It also causes ringworm of the scalp (tinea capitus) giving rise to round scaly lesions with hair loss, mainly in children. It is spread by contact with fungal spores. Coloured scanning electron micrograph, Magnification: x1.900.
