Microphotography for Editorial Purpose in Print and Online

Magazines like to show our stories on multi-page spreads

Microphotography of a tardigrade

Almost everything is worth beeing pictured with a Scanning Electron Microscope

The scanning electron microscope opens up worlds within our world. We produce features with our micrographs for editorial magazines as GEO or National Geographic and others, f.e. about herbs, parasites, minerals, human body, bionics and much more.

Trichodectes canis

Many parasites are small in a microscopic scale. Lots are insects, but there are also nematodes, other worms and even protozoan, f.e. malaria parasites. We have "portrayed" many of them with the electron microscope for editorial purposes.

Barium sulfate

This photo-micrograph shows barium sulfate, one of the special crystals we photographed within a feature about biominerals. Biominerals means bone, teeth, shells of different creatures or stabilizing structures in plants.

Heliozoa

A big series showed life in forest soil. This story was printed around the world in different magazines. The microscopic images show insects, mites, nematodes, fungi, protozoan and bacteria. Editors are often mezmerized by the worlds we open up with the scanning electron microscope.

Lotus Effect

Bionic means the transfer from natural biological systems to modern technology. Much of this takes place on a microscopic scale, e.g.: velcro, gecko effect, interference, composite material and much more. These micrographs were first published in GEO Magazine.

Since we look into the microworld with the eyes of photographers, aesthetic is our highest goal

eye of science can look back on almost three decades of experience in preparation, photography and digital imaging in scanning electron microscopy. We prepare and scan samples from technology, biology and medicine for editorial purposes and much more. The goal is the highest possible aesthetic representation while maintaining scientific authenticity. Editors for both magazines and books like to use our images due to the aesthetics and scientific content. In addition to scientific publishers, our customers are chemical and pharmaceutical industries and popular magazines. Via the menu on top you will find examples of our work on electron microscopy, as well as light microscopy and underwater photography, grouped by topic.
